An exciting pilot project has surfaced, and will bring Nordic actors into the spotlight during the 65th annual Berlin International Film Festival.

At the moment there is a noticeable trend and interest amongst the international industry to cast Nordic actors. Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Ulrich Thomsen are just two of several Nordic actors who have impressed an international audience with their movie performances in 2014. But the issue at hand is that international casters complain that Nordic actors can be tricky to find. It is important to react quickly and respond to the international interest, and Northern Lights has emerged as a response to this. The Nordic countries have great actors with international potential to offer.
Northern Lights aims to be a platform where Nordic actors can network with the right industry professionals. The Berlinale is one of the biggest A-list festivals in the world with a specific focus on actors as part of the film industry. That’s why this festival in particular provides the optimal arena for the Northern Lights event. 25 Nordic actors have been chosen for special attention and promotion the 9th of February. The full day program includes a closed brunch at the Nordic Embassies, speed dating with international casting agents and an evening gala red carpet event.
Northern Lights is funded and organized by the Norwegian Actors’ Center, in cooperation with LS International Film Consulting and TMStudio, with guidance from The Norwegian Film Institute, and with Scandinavian Locations, The Norwegian Actors Equity Association, and Rushprint as partners.
