I dag slapp Cannesfestivalen sitt varslede program. Festivalens offisielle kuraterte program er som kjent for lengst avlyst, sammen med sideseksjonene Directors Fortnight og Kritikeruken, men listen med filmer vil likevel få betydning for filmåret som kommer – for nettopp så viktig er Cannes som filmfestival. Den utgjør det mest toneangivende startskuddet for filmåret, og det blir spennende å se om primadonnaen blant alle filmfestivalene fortsatt kan påvirke like sterkt – kringsatt av koronastengte kinoer og stadig mer aggressive strømmetjenester.

De utvalgte vil blant annet bli vist i tilknytning til Cannesfestivalens samarbeid med YouTube om en global «samlefestival», men de fleste vil vi få se på kino, VOD og strømmetjenester i året som kommer.

Som forventet er det mange gjengangere i programmet – og ingen norske er plukket ut, bortsett fra den dansk-svensk-norske samproduksjonen Flukt av Jonas Poher Rasmussen (med MerFilm som norsk samprodusent).

Kjente profiler som Wes Andersen, Francois Ozon, Steve McQueen, Thomas Vinterberg er på den omfattende listen som rommer langt flere navn enn det ville vært plass til i en ordinær hovedkonkurranse. De spesielle omstendighetene har gjort det mulig for ledelsen å innlemme hele 21 franske filmer blant de 56. Nykommerne er det også større plass til enn før. Med nordiske øyne er det oppløftende å se at det svenske regitalentet Magnus Von Horn er valgt ut. Når det gjelder kvinnerepresentasjonen, har Cannes fortsatt mye å gå på. Men det er godt å se at de har fått øynene opp svenske Ninja Thyberg som er kommet med på listen med Pleasure.
